a positive message

i havnt had a cig since june and i hope to keep going (i will probably succumb sooner or later). i like how u put the skull in the puff of smoke. cool.

kyowell responds:

thank you! :)

Congratulations!

good things come to those who wait...so the saying goes. i am happy for you and i like this piece along with your other stuff. keep it up!

kyowell responds:

:] thank you very much.

this is good..

..my only beef is that its difficult to tell the gender. i think this is because of the way the neck is drawn (i think normally for women the collar bones to shoulder area is more flat and not as steep) as well as a few features on the face like the lips which could be more feminine, the nose, the chin which could be more narrow to look more feminine and the eyes which dont have any lashes which makes it look masculine.

the-new-laconic responds:

Thanks for takin the time to write such an in-depth review!
It actually is quite stylized- but you do have a good point with the neck/collar bone. I do tend to draw people with really long necks. :/
But the reason why I actually drew the face/features a bit more non-gender specific is because I'm very much a tomboy, and not really that feminine at all. :P

pencil and ink???

i like this, the concept is really good. reminds me of Inception (whic is a fuckin lush movie)

XxCrimsonMoonxX responds:

Thank you! I'm glad you got what I was going for.^^ I saw inception...IT WAS AWESOME!!!!!!! O0o

Actually, I used many gray colored pencils. ^^

blue is good

as my favorite color i like to see works of art in only blue now and then.
i like this a lot especially the light blue bit to the right on her hair.
only thing that i think could have been better are her fingers.
aside from that, great job!

kyowell responds:

thank you so much for enjoying my artwork!!!
fingers are something that are very hard for me to recreate. so i totally agree with you on that. but, "practice makes perfect" right?

MILF FTW

Stifler's mom is the first person i thought of when i saw this lol
this is really good for even under 30 min.
looking thru your stuff, i like your style; i think its a bit similar to my style of drawing as well.
keep up the good work!

kyowell responds:

LOL! love it!
thank you for enjoying my art.

very foxy indeed

man, i really like this piece. what did you use?? the texture on the hair is done really well although the way her hairline converges on the top of her head looks kind of weird. that aside, this is sick. also i like what you did with the sides of the picture, nice effect there. oh yeah, is this from a reference of freehand???

shaggy1988 responds:

I agree with the hairline... Freehand from a reference Photo of Mrs. Foxy girl is smoking hot. Thanks for your input

lmao

i couldn't help but lol. this is good stuff!

just one thing, is he supposed to be a polar bear??? cuz from the last one you did i thought he was a brown bear or something...

BearPawMedia responds:

No, you're right. He's a brown bear. The colors are just to go along with the "blueness" of the series. Also, polar bears are far more..sleek. Not as fluffy as the other bears, like Moogly.

Later comics he shows up in a woodsy area, kinda to show he's a brown bear.

Glad you like it :D

shading...

the shading is lush.
what type of reference did you use (a real stage beetle??)
i wish more ppl drew insects...

MatthewSmith responds:

My reference was indeed a real beetle; a preserved one from a museum, to be exact. (They had loads of different ones, from big armour-plated beasties like this fellow to tiny, brightly-coloured little critters that looked like shiny gems.) And I quite agree, it's a shame more people don't try their hand at doodling insects, because they make jolly interesting subjects. You probably wouldn't want them running about on your drawing desk, though.

yes i agree..

you truly are a bitch if u say so, but a talented one at that! i myself am a bastard and would be a very thankful bastard if u could scout me. much obliged!

also what did u use for this piece??/

Araelyn responds:

Haha, I am kind of a bitch sometimes. I'll think about scouting. Your sketches look really good, I'm more into finished illustrated works though.

I used nothing but Photoshop CS2 and my Wacom tablet! :D
